|In the conventional method where the soybean crop is to be preceded by a maize or wheat crop, the field is usually disced to a smooth tilth before planting. With the zero-tillage or conservation method, soybean seed is planted in undisturbed soil. Weeds growing at planting time are killed with a contact herbicide.
